What's the difference between trade-in value and private sale value?
Trade-in value is what a dealer will typically offer, factoring in their cost to recondition and resell the vehicle. Private sale (fair market) value is usually higher, since you're selling directly to the end buyer. We explain both in your report.
Can this appraisal help me negotiate a dealer trade-in?
Yes — that's exactly what it's for. Having an independent, documented value in hand gives you a reference point when a dealer presents their trade-in offer.
How current is the market data used?
We use current and recent comparable listings and sales data for similar vehicles in Ontario at the time your report is prepared.
Is this the same as a mechanical inspection?
No. This is a value appraisal, not a mechanical/safety inspection. If you need a hands-on mechanical inspection before buying, that's a separate service from a licensed mechanic or inspection station.
